The Arab Parliament has called for "the concerted international efforts to find fair and sustainable solutions that would preserve the human rights of refugees and alleviate their suffering, especially in light of the difficult challenges and circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the global crisis resulting from the Russian-Ukrainian tensions."
In a statement on the occasion of "World Refugee Day," observed every June 20, it emphasized that "the Arab region is one of the most affected areas in the world by challenges and issues related to refugees, particularly as it hosts nearly half of the world’s total refugees." It pointed out the "tragic conditions of Palestinian refugees, who have suffered the most from the crimes of forced displacement exercised by the Israeli occupying authorities, disregarding international law, including the United Nations General Assembly resolution No. 194 of 1948."
The Arab Parliament called on "the international community and international donor organizations to provide full support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) so that it can fulfill its complete responsibilities towards the Palestinian refugees through aid and financing to continue its work and bear its social responsibilities towards them, as well as its political and legal responsibilities in securing their rights and the rights of host countries, and providing basic requirements for more than 6.4 million Palestinian refugees."
At the same time, it praised the "tireless efforts made by all Arab countries hosting refugees to provide their basic needs, as well as integrating them into work and education environments, despite the significant challenges this imposes at all levels without discrimination."
