The "Education City" stadium hosted the match between Brazilian club Palmeiras and Mexican club Tigres UANL in the semifinals of the current edition of the FIFA Club World Cup being held in Qatar until February 11.
Tigres UANL advanced to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Palmeiras with a score of 1-0. The first half ended goalless but was fast-paced, with both teams making attempts to score the first goal, though both goalkeepers excelled in stopping the opportunities. French veteran player André-Pierre Gignac managed to score the crucial qualifying goal for Tigres in the second half at the 54th minute from a penalty that he placed to the right of Palmeiras' goalkeeper.
It is noteworthy that Tigres UANL will play in the final scheduled for next Thursday evening against the winner of the second semifinal match between German club Bayern Munich and Egyptian club Al Ahly, taking place tomorrow evening. Meanwhile, Palmeiras will face the loser of the match between Al Ahly and Bayern Munich for the third place on Thursday as well.
