Judicial sources informed "An-Nahar" that the investigating judge, Fadi Sawwan, will resume his investigations into the port explosion case on Thursday.
The Public Prosecution received a letter from Interpol regarding Russia's refusal to extradite its nationals, the owner of the ship Rhosus and its captain. In this context, these sources indicated the possibility for the investigating judge to request assistance from the Russian authorities for approval or denial.
Earlier, German media reported in a story titled "Beirut's Second Bomb" about hazardous materials still present at the Port of Beirut. Sputnik reported from the German news network "NTV" that a German company is assisting in preventing a second disaster at the Port of Beirut, potentially equally destructive as the disaster of August 4.
In related news, the Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, Ghazi Wazni, signed a decision regarding the implementation details of exemptions related to income tax, transfer fees, and property tax as stipulated in clause "fourth" of Law No. 185 dated 19/8/2020 (extension of deadlines and granting of certain tax and fee exemptions) and in Article 6 of Law No. 194/2020 (protection of areas affected by the explosion at the Port of Beirut and support for their reconstruction).
