A study conducted by the humanitarian organization "World Vision" indicates that children are frequently exposed to sexual violence while fleeing war or conflict. The findings of the study, published by the organization at its headquarters in Friedrichsdorf, Germany, on Tuesday, highlight that Eastern European countries and transit countries such as Libya and Turkey are particularly dangerous for children.
The study also points out that refugee children in Germany are at risk, as they are often housed with strangers in collective accommodations. The organization has urged the German government to establish a plan to protect children from violence.
This plan should include decentralized housing for refugee families. Additionally, the organization recommends providing psychological support to children in their native language. The study does not provide information on the number of such cases and is based on statements from social workers and psychological therapists.
Katrina Rudi Abuba, the organization's research director, stated, "We are looking at a large dark field."
According to its data, the organization is currently active in 48 countries.
