Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Buzri: The Campaign Will Primarily Target the Health Sector and the Elderly

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Buzri, a member of the medical committee for combating the Coronavirus, revealed that the number registered on the vaccination platform has surpassed 500,000 individuals. He explained that the campaign will primarily target the health sector and the elderly, gradually expanding to other prioritized sectors.

In a radio interview, Al-Buzri mentioned that the first batch of vaccines includes 28,000 doses, with subsequent batches expected to arrive weekly. He anticipates that the number of people willing to receive the vaccine will increase over time and urged Lebanese citizens to observe the progression of the pandemic in Britain and the United States, where the infection rate has declined due to a combination of strict measures and vaccination.

Earlier, the head of the parliamentary health committee, Dr. Assem Araji, stated that the country is capable of overcoming this stage and defeating Corona if awareness is prioritized, and if the state fulfills its responsibilities and implements the measures, emphasizing that "prevention is better than a pound of cure." Araji explained that prior to the lockdown, infections had surpassed the 5,000 threshold, while medical predictions suggested that the Coronavirus count could soar to 8,000 or 9,000 daily if the lockdown had not been imposed. Naturally, the number of severe infections entering intensive care units increases as the count of positive tests rises. The concerning factor is that the percentage of positive tests remains high, standing at 22% of total tests, which is a negative indicator.
