On the negotiations front for the demarcation, just days before the visit of U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein to Lebanon, informed sources revealed that the procedures for this file have nearly concluded. They stated to "Al-Anbaa" electronic newspaper that "a kilometer more or less does not change anything," anticipating that Israel will be assigned the Karish field and Lebanon the Qana field, and that "the agreement will not mention block number 8."
The sources raised questions about the resumption of negotiations in Naqoura and whether it is possible to restart them to finalize the agreement officially, revealing that "the signing of an agreement of this type is not limited to the heads of the two delegations but requires approval from both governments and a vote by the parliaments of the two countries, which may take more than a month for formal approval. This means it will not be signed by the current president, whose term ends on October 31."
