A four-year-old boy accidentally purchased SpongeBob lollipops worth about $3,000, which are non-refundable, according to the New York Post. The purchase, made on Amazon, went viral on social media after a New York University student opened a GoFundMe page on Instagram to support the child’s mother in raising the required amount for the purchase.
Katie Schloss wrote in an Instagram post: “Meet Noah, a 4-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, who loves SpongeBob so much that he ordered $2,618 worth of lollipops from Amazon and had them sent to his aunt’s house.” She continued, for those wondering, these lollipops comprise 51 boxes containing 918 lollipops. Schloss stated, “Noah’s mother is Jennifer Bryant, a social work student at NYU, and she simply cannot afford these expenses. Amazon will not refund the lollipops, and Mrs. Bryant, a mother of three, doesn’t know how she will be able to pay this amount, in addition to student loans and all the other expenses for her family.”
In just three days, $3,980 was raised to cover the $2,619, leaving Noah and his mother with a profit from the SpongeBob lollipop purchase. Noah's mother thanked the donors for their generosity and support on the GoFundMe page on Tuesday, noting that all future donations would go towards Noah’s education and additional support, especially for a child living with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). She said, “We truly cannot thank you enough.”
