Egyptian Mohamed Salah, star of Liverpool FC, has placed low on the list of the most valuable players, ranking 24th in the Premier League and 57th globally, at a time when he is considered one of the top talents in football, likely among the top ten at the very least. According to a report from Russia Today citing the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), the study did not rely on the buyout clauses in players' contracts but instead utilized an economic methodology it developed to create the list of the most valuable players at the beginning of 2022.
According to the study, Salah's current market value is 66.1 million euros, especially at the age of 29. A surprise came with Manchester City's Phil Foden, aged 21, ranking first on the list of the most valuable Premier League players with a value of 152.6 million euros, followed by his compatriot Mason Greenwood of Manchester United with 133.9 million euros, and Portuguese Ruben Dias from Manchester City in third with 120.5 million euros.
On the global list, Brazilian Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid tops the chart with a market value of 166 million euros, while Norwegian star Erling Haaland, top scorer for Borussia Dortmund, ranks third after Foden.
