Referring to the "Fire Lab" system at the University of Balamand, large areas in the governorates of Akkar, Beqaa, Mount Lebanon, the South, and Nabatieh have been classified within the severe risk zone for the outbreak and spread of fires. In addition to the favorable conditions for the spread of fires due to weather conditions and dry vegetation, the burning of agricultural waste and the use of any fire source increases the risk of catastrophic fires that cannot be easily controlled. Therefore, as part of the efforts to address the forest fire season, especially in the upcoming weeks which may be critical regarding the risk of forest fires, the Ministry of Environment urges everyone to be vigilant of the fire outbreak risk and to immediately report any fire hazards to the Civil Defense, local authorities, and law enforcement agencies responsible for enforcing laws, particularly the forestry law, which prohibits the igniting and setting of fires in all Lebanese areas that have forests, grasses, plants, or natural reserves prone to combustion, during the fire season from July 1 to October 31, to prevent fire outbreaks and ensure the safety and lives of citizens and their property and to avoid any environmental losses to Lebanon's natural resources.
