From Behind Bars: An Afghan Girl Appeals to an American Soldier for Help

Under the title "From Behind Bars: An Afghan Girl Appeals to an American Soldier for Help," the Al Arabiya website reported that with the Taliban's control over Kabul and most of Afghanistan, videos have surfaced illustrating the fear and terror Afghans are experiencing, dreading the grip of the extremist group in the coming days. In a widely circulated video on social media, a girl is seen crying bitterly, behind bars alongside a group of others, pleading with an American soldier for rescue, shouting, "You are our family, please help us."

Since last Sunday, thousands of Afghans have been heading to the capital's airport in an effort to flee, fearing potential violations by the Taliban. The group has urged the crowds to leave, especially those who do not possess the necessary papers to travel to the United States or other countries.

Additionally, Taliban officials and NATO reported on Thursday that 12 people have been killed at the airport and its surroundings since the group seized control of the city on Sunday, prompting an influx of thousands of frightened individuals attempting to escape.

Evacuation of Hundreds

Meanwhile, U.S. forces have been evacuating hundreds via military aircraft, including American soldiers and Afghan citizens who assisted them over the past years, fearing retaliatory acts against them. A White House official announced late Wednesday that U.S. military forces evacuated approximately 1,800 individuals on ten C-17 aircraft in the past twenty-four hours, and had transported nearly six thousand individuals since August 14. Afghanistan has been experiencing chaos and instability since the beginning of this week due to the Taliban's takeover of the capital and the flight of President Ashraf Ghani, while the international community is watching the Taliban's next moves.
