Important Political Week Ahead: Anticipated Changes in Government Structure

Member of the "Development and Reconstruction" bloc, MP Sajjai Atiyah, emphasized that "the priority of the Parliament should be to implement the laws required by the International Monetary Fund, which include capital control, approving the recovery plan thrown onto the Parliament's shoulders by the government, lifting banking secrecy, and the budget." In a conversation with "Al-Anbaa" electronic, he noted that "the Parliament must approve these laws before July 15, the date of the IMF meeting." He pointed out that if "the new Parliament members exhibit a sense of responsibility, especially under the difficult conditions, the Parliament is capable of achieving results." Regarding the government file, Atiyah revealed that "the direction is to call for consultations next week and to nominate President Najib Mikati again, with changes in the government structure to align with the new Parliament." Finally, Atiyah confirmed that if the reforms are implemented, especially in electricity, it would restore Lebanon’s credibility in the international community. Thus, an important political week is approaching, awaiting the outcome of discussions on how to approach upcoming challenges and issues.
