Former MP Nidal Ta’mat emphasized that “accelerating the formation of a government gives people hope and alleviates the despair overshadowing the country.” He stated, “We are discussing the French initiative, analyzing Arab positions, waiting for the Russian envoy, and intertwining our fate with the world’s woes, while all we need is one thing. Do we need Russian intervention supporting Saad Hariri’s arrival to an effective government without a blocking third to realize that this is in Lebanon's interest?”
In a statement today, Ta'mat added, “If we all don't recognize that clinging to positions that serve a faction without considering the interests of the Lebanese people leads to citizens yearning for their country's salvation to disregard and belittle it, we will lead ourselves to further political suicide.” He continued, “We view the international movement undertaken by Hariri as a response to a lethal void, striving to keep Lebanon in the circle of international attention, and we ask those concerned with obstructing state institutions, and hence their presence, what are they betting on and what are they waiting for? Do they want the Lebanese to starve to give up their interests?”
Ta’mat regarded the “healthcare chaos threatening Lebanon due to the dispute between hospitals and insurance institutions as one of the serious indicators we call to be addressed as soon as possible.” Simultaneously, with the start of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19, Ta’mat questioned when the vaccination campaign against the devaluation of the dollar, chaos, injustice, and the absence of law will begin. “If the roadmap for addressing COVID-19 is now known to everyone, who will chart our path to confront the collapse of our country and rescue it from the dragon? It is independent judiciary. We hope that Judge Tarek Bitar from Akkar, in his position as an investigative judge, can present a picture of a pure and independent judiciary, so we may realize that there is still hope for the establishment of a state of law.”
