The Israeli representative to the United Nations announced on Wednesday that Lebanese Hezbollah could drag the region into war if its activities are not curtailed. Gilad Erdan stated via his Twitter account that Iran continues to seek to become a nuclear state, adding, "Tehran spreads terrorism and instability in the region and the world."
Israeli public broadcaster "Kan" revealed two days ago that Israel warned the United States during closed talks that Iran is getting closer to becoming a state capable of producing nuclear weapons. It was mentioned that this message was conveyed during several discussions between Israeli officials, including Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, and their American counterparts.
Iran Negotiations
Israeli state television quoted a political official as saying, "Something must happen regarding the negotiations with Iran... This threshold cannot be the time during which Iran quickly advances towards becoming a nuclear state." It is noteworthy that Iran and the United States are engaged in indirect talks to revive the nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers, which imposed restrictions on Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for lifting international sanctions.
The Vienna talks, which began in April, are currently stalled, and were expected to resume in early July. Diplomats from both sides have stated that significant disagreements remain, with each side wanting the other to make greater concessions before resuming discussions.
