Bride's Tears Touch Millions: Wedding Celebration Turns into Mourning in Egypt

A state of sadness has overshadowed social media users in Egypt after images of the funeral of a girl in the town of Hihya, located in the Sharqia Governorate of northern Egypt, circulated. She passed away following a health crisis just days before her wedding. A woman from the village named Salwa recounted the events, stating that the deceased bride, Kholoud Ahmed Ghayati, was preparing for her wedding celebration, and furniture had already been moved to the groom's apartment amidst the family's and villagers' overwhelming joy.

Salwa told "Sky News Arabia" that the deceased had attended a friend's wedding, feeling ecstatic, when suddenly she collapsed. She was taken to Zagazig University Hospital, where it was discovered she was suffering from anemia. She was admitted for treatment but succumbed six days later.

Salwa noted that sadness engulfed the village as residents learned of Ghayati's passing, recognizing her good character and reputation. Regarding the poignant funeral scene, Salwa mentioned that it brought tears to all the villagers; mourners lined up outside her home, carrying the young bride's body and placing flowers and her wedding veil on the coffin in an emotionally distressing scene that touched everyone's hearts.

She emphasized the funeral’s grandeur, as people of all ages, along with residents from neighboring villages, participated. Following the funeral proceedings, social media pages in the Sharqia Governorate turned into a large mourning tent, paying tribute to the deceased with prayers for her mercy and forgiveness.

A local woman commented, "May God have mercy on her and comfort her family and husband; joy was killed within us as her wedding turned into a funeral," while another wrote, "In paradise, my dear, God willing, the bride of paradise."
