It seems that the situation between the Free Patriotic Movement and the Future Movement has reached a deadlock, as Al-Joumhouria newspaper revealed today, Thursday, regarding the future of the relationship between President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri.
The newspaper reported, citing sources close to the presidential palace and Bayt al-Wasat, that the data between the two internally conflicting fronts indicate that the two parties have reached a point of divorce, leading to an ongoing tense atmosphere between them indefinitely. Information indicates that a discussion took place in recent hours about developments in the Aoun-Hariri relationship, concluding that both have accepted the definitive deadlock and have deemed it impossible to contain the "video crisis," in which Aoun described Hariri as a liar; it seems this has severed the last strand between Aoun and Hariri.
The idea of mediation to resolve the disagreement was raised, with General Director of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, supporting it, specifically backed by the Shiite duo. However, this idea lost momentum in light of information revealed during the discussions, indicating that both Aoun and Hariri have firmly made their choices and ruled out any possibility of coexistence under one government roof.
