Dureid Laham Reveals the Truth About His Birth Date and His Last Wish

Syrian artist Dureid Laham appeared as a guest on the program "Al-Mukhtar" on "City FM" radio, hosted by Syrian journalist Basel Mahraz.

The Syrian artist celebrated his birthday live on air, receiving several greetings from his family, notably from his granddaughter who presented him with a musical performance titled "Happy Birthday." Laham clarified that there is a common misconception about his birth date online; he was born on February 9, 1934, not in January as mentioned by some websites.

He stated that he does not fear death or aging, considering it a part of life's cycle, but he hopes to leave a significant impact on people. Regarding the idea of a project that reflects his life and career, he preferred the title "The Belonging." He expressed his wish for his son "Thaer" to portray this role, as he understands what Laham has been through.

Discussing his relationships with colleagues, Laham acknowledged the contributions of many individuals in his career, including Najy Jabr, Nihad Qal'i, and Khaldoun Al-Malih. He responded to discussions suggesting that his success is due to "Al-Maghout," explaining that the success of Al-Maghout's works was because of his presence in them. He considered this evident when Al-Maghout presented the play titled "Kharij Al-Sarb," which did not achieve the expected success without Laham's involvement.

Laham noted that he does not like to present himself as a writer, although he contributed to writing all of the theatrical works he has presented, including "Ghorba," "Kasek Ya Watn," "Shaqiqat Al-Nu'man," and "Dayet Tishreen." His latest work is the series "Street Chicago," written and directed by Muhammad Abdel Aziz, which achieved great success despite facing criticism for its bold scenes.
