Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, made a phone call to Meitha Mohammed, a content creator at the New Media Academy. She had shared a video about a minor girl who contacted her after being harassed, prompting Meitha to inform the Ministry of Interior through the "My Protection" app to rescue and support the girl.
During the call, which was broadcast on the Ministry's official social media platforms, Sheikh Saif praised Meitha's efforts and the content she shared across her platforms. Meitha stated in comments to "Al-Ittihad" that Sheikh Saif's call symbolizes the unlimited support provided by the wise leadership to the youth and its commitment to highlighting community efforts that have a positive impact, especially concerning the proper use of social media and embodying positive citizenship.
She further emphasized that Sheikh Saif urged the youth of the UAE to optimally utilize social media, which sends a message about the important role of youth in using these platforms to share content free of insults or foul language, while adhering to general principles and values.
Meitha noted that the story in her post, which garnered over one and a half million views, revolved around a minor girl who suffered harassment and reached out to her via social media. She contacted the girl and reported the situation through the "My Protection" app, launched by the Ministry to protect children and receive abuse reports. The relevant authorities quickly reached out to support and rescue her, showcasing the significant efforts made by the Ministry to ensure community safety and security.
She also highlighted the crucial role of the New Media Academy, which provided all necessary support and training through precise content creation training and the optimal use of social media. She stressed the importance of honesty in presenting topics, which has motivated her to tackle challenges and share various clips on subjects like organ donation and initiatives by the Ministry of Community Development. The academy played a key role in training and preparing content creators by instilling confidence and a positive spirit while addressing various community issues in a manner suitable for different age groups and considering the uniqueness of social media.
Meitha advised new content creators on the importance of presenting sound content that avoids foul language and highlights matters with a positive impact on society, aligned with their interests and hobbies, to effectively reach their audience.
