Ajax Amsterdam hosted PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup.
The Ajax team managed to qualify for the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup after a valuable victory (2-1) against their rival PSV Eindhoven. Ajax's Dutch player Sébastien Haller scored both goals for Ajax in the 19th and 24th minutes. Meanwhile, PSV's only goal came from Ajax's own defender, Joëll Timbers, who accidentally scored in his own net in the 58th minute.
It is worth mentioning that this was the second match between the two teams in the Dutch classic this season, after they drew (2-2) at the same venue (Johan Cruyff Arena) in the Dutch league on October 1st. The teams are scheduled to meet again on February 28th of this month in the league at the Philips stadium, home of PSV Eindhoven.
