Turkish Ambassador Visits Tripoli Farewell

The Mayor of Tripoli, Dr. Riyad Yamak, received the Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Hakan Çakıl, along with a large delegation from the embassy, in his office at the municipal palace, with the presence of Deputy Mayor Khaled Al-Wali and council members Bassem Bakhash and Ahmad Al-Marj.

During the meeting, the Turkish ambassador stated: "My visit to the municipality is a farewell visit. I have been working as my country's ambassador for two and a half years and will be leaving Lebanon shortly. Throughout my work in Lebanon, I have visited most Lebanese regions, but Tripoli is the city I have visited the most, as Tripoli holds a special place in my heart and in the hearts of all Turks. When I visit Tripoli, I feel as though I am visiting my family." He added, "There is a historical relationship between Tripoli and Turkey over the years, and this relationship will continue in the future, God willing. I came today with a high-level delegation from the Turkish embassy in Lebanon to emphasize the strengthening and continuation of relations. We will remain as a state alongside Tripoli in various fields, and we are ready to provide all that the municipality and the city need. I reiterate my regrets regarding the events that have occurred in the municipality and Tripoli."

On his part, Yamak welcomed the Turkish ambassador and his accompanying delegation, saying: "We see Turkey as a major regional power, in a brotherly perspective. We appreciate the moral support in standing by Tripoli and its people. We have felt the Turkish ambassador's love for Tripoli during his first visit to the city, which reciprocates that love, as he has elevated the level of Turkish representation in enhancing brotherly communication between the brotherly Turkish and Lebanese peoples. We will not forget his arrival in Tripoli after the recent events that the city faced from malevolent troublemakers, not revolutionaries, at a time when most embassies were warning against visiting Tripoli. This confirms his love and Turkey's love for the city."

In conclusion, Yamak presented the ambassador with the Tripoli shield, and he also gifted the members of the delegation with handmade crafts from Tripoli.
