The newspaper "Marca," close to the royal team, believes that Spanish club Real Madrid is capable of signing French star Kylian Mbappe and Norwegian star Erling Haaland, ensuring a strong offensive capability for the coming decade. The paper indicated that Haaland, 21, has a desire to play in La Liga, which increases the chances for both Real Madrid and Barcelona to secure his services, although Madrid appears to have the upper hand. This is according to La Liga president Javier Tebas, who stated that competition for Barcelona in this regard will not be fair due to the financial crises it faces.
Tebas mentioned in previous press remarks that Real Madrid could manage to gather Haaland and Mbappe, noting that the latter is very close to joining the Bernabeu, as he will be able to negotiate with any club starting next month to join them for free in the summer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ends.
However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta, according to the Madrid newspaper, will do everything he can to convince Mino Raiola, Haaland's agent, that playing for the Catalan giant will be more beneficial for the young Norwegian star. Haaland's current contract includes a release clause of €75 million (approximately $81 million), an amount within Real Madrid's reach, but they also have to pay a significant commission to the player’s agent to convince him that Real Madrid will fulfill his dreams of achieving individual and team titles.
Raiola had previously told Marca earlier this year that he is keen on securing a major deal with Real Madrid next season, mentioning that he visited Real Madrid's headquarters with Haaland's father before making a short visit to Barcelona. The newspaper noted that senior leaders at Real Madrid seem confident that they will secure success for a decade if they can sign Mbappe and Haaland, adding, "However, we must not forget that Karim Benzema is still at the club and has been an extremely important player for over a decade, with his importance growing further since (Portuguese star) Cristiano Ronaldo's departure in 2018."
