Union of Workers in Visual and Audio Media Sets Deadline for COVID-19 Vaccine Registration

The Union of Workers in Visual and Audio Media has called on all its members to submit lists of their names by the 29th of this month to benefit from the COVID-19 vaccine.

In a statement issued today, the union stated that based on a decision made by the Council of Ministers, which established a detailed mechanism for programming the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, all members of the union who wish to receive the vaccine are encouraged to quickly send their consent to the Secretariat via WhatsApp number 76652345.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced last Sunday that Lebanon will receive its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech in February. The ministry indicated in a statement that "Lebanon will receive the vaccine in mid-February in batches to cover 15% of the citizens."

Additionally, the ministry stated that it has negotiated with the global COVAX platform to obtain additional vaccines that will later be approved by the World Health Organization to cover an additional 20% of citizens, as per the plan of the National Committee overseeing COVID-19 vaccines, noting that the vaccines will be available through the private sector.

COVAX is an initiative aimed at accelerating the development and manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccines and ensuring fair and equitable access to vaccines for all countries around the world within a leading global framework for cooperation. The COVAX initiative is jointly led by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and the World Health Organization.
