The Director General of Lebanese General Security, Abbas Ibrahim, announced that the case of some Lebanese nationals detained in the United Arab Emirates will see a breakthrough "in the coming hours."

The Lebanese newspaper "Al-Akhbar" had previously reported last year about the detention of 14 Lebanese individuals in the United Arab Emirates, stating that they were detained in two batches while playing football. The newspaper mentioned that "the detainees are residents of the UAE and have no criminal records in the UAE or Lebanon," noting that among those detained are seven from the southern town of Shhour.
