Egyptian Al-Ahly Faces Qatari Al-Duhail in FIFA Club World Cup Quarterfinal

The draw for the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup was held this evening in Zurich, Switzerland, the headquarters of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

The draw resulted in an Arab encounter between Egyptian Al-Ahly and Qatari team Al-Duhail on February 4 in the quarterfinals of the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from February 4 to 11.

Al-Ahly qualified for this edition of the Club World Cup after winning the African Champions League title for the ninth time in its history, defeating its traditional rival, Zamalek, with a score of 2-1 in the final match held last November at the Cairo Stadium.

On the other hand, Al-Duhail qualified for the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup after the withdrawal of New Zealand's Auckland City, which was unable to travel to Qatar due to the quarantine measures required by its authorities amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

It is worth noting that the tournament also features other clubs, including German Bayern Munich, the European champion, Mexico's Tigres UANL, the North American and CONCACAF champion, South Korea's Ulsan Hyundai, the Asian champion, and Qatari Al-Duhail, the representative of the host country, with the South American champion to be determined between Brazilian teams Santos and Palmeiras.
