Zarif: Iran's Actions Can Be Reversed

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif affirmed that Iran has never exited the nuclear agreement but has reduced some commitments, emphasizing that Iran's actions can be reversed.

In an interview with CNN this evening, the Iranian foreign minister called on the United States to provide guarantees that the actions of former President Donald Trump will not be repeated, noting that obtaining compensation from Washington for its withdrawal from the nuclear agreement is not a condition for its revival. Zarif stated that the previous nuclear agreement is non-negotiable as it was fully negotiated, pointing out that February 21 is the deadline to halt the commitment to the Additional Protocol of the nuclear agreement. He clarified that stopping the implementation of the Additional Protocol does not completely close the door on the nuclear agreement, mentioning that Iran's actions can be reversed.

Regarding the situation in Yemen, the Iranian foreign minister confirmed that his country is ready to work with the United Nations envoy on Yemen, revealing a meeting scheduled with him tomorrow, Monday. Zarif indicated that the U.S. should ask Saudi Arabia to stop the war in Yemen. On his part, U.S. President Joe Biden stated that America will not lift sanctions on Iran to bring it back to the negotiating table, noting that Iran must first stop enriching uranium.
