The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, confirmed Egypt's steadfast position in supporting Lebanon's security and stability and assisting its efforts to overcome current challenges, aiming to fulfill Lebanon's aspirations for stability, advancing development, and preserving the people's resources. Hafez added that the importance of prioritizing the supreme national interest of Lebanon was emphasized in order to emerge from the current impasse within the framework of commitment to the Lebanese constitution, which necessitates accelerating efforts to form an independent government capable of addressing the requirements of the future desired by the Lebanese people. For his part, the Prime Minister-designate expressed appreciation for Egypt's support and assistance to his country and for its sincere efforts to garner international support for Lebanon during its current phase, reflecting the historic and strategic relationship between the two countries and their peoples. He expressed Lebanon's eagerness to advance cooperation with Egypt in several priority sectors and to benefit from Egyptian expertise in achieving economic and social development. President Hariri also met with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at the League's General Secretariat, where they discussed various current issues. The Arab League stated in a release that the two sides discussed the Lebanese situation and the latest developments concerning the formation of the Lebanese government in order to extricate the country from its current crisis and halt the deterioration of the economic situation in Lebanon.
