The International Centre for Sports History and Statistics (IFFHS) announced on Thursday the ideal lineup in Africa for the last decade covering the period from 2011 to 2020.
Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, the top scorer of Liverpool FC, topped the ideal African lineup for the past decade. The lineup included four Arab players: Mohamed Salah, Riyad Mahrez, Ahmed Fathy, and Mehdi Benatia. The lineup was arranged in a 4-3-3 formation as follows:
- Goalkeeper: Nigerian Vincent Enyeama
- Defense: Egyptian Ahmed Fathy, Moroccan Mehdi Benatia, Senegalese Kalidou Koulibaly, and Ivorian Eric Bailly.
- Midfield: Ivorian Yaya Touré, Ghanaian André Ayew, and Algerian Riyad Mahrez.
- Forward: Egyptian Mohamed Salah, Senegalese Sadio Mané, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
