The Misdemeanor Court of Qasr El-Nil announced today, Sunday, its ruling regarding the Egyptian actress Rania Youssef, following her accusation of committing an indecent act and disrespecting religions due to statements she made on the program "With Al-Faris," hosted by Iraqi journalist Nizar Al-Faris, on the "Al-Rasheed" channel.
The court ruled in favor of Rania Youssef, stating in the details of the verdict that she did not commit the crime of public indecency, corruption, or disrespecting religions. The actress's legal representative attended the session after her absence, while the court postponed another lawsuit filed against Rania, which will be addressed in a session on February 28 of this month. Attorney Ashraf Nagy had accused Rania Youssef by filing a lawsuit claiming that she spoke about the prominence of her backside in a manner that rendered her subject to public accusation during a television interview.
The lawyer had requested in the lawsuit the imposition of the maximum penalty stipulated in articles 80d, 98/2, 102, 161, 176, 188 of the Penal Code and Article 25 of the Cybercrime Law No. 175 of 2018 for her alleged disrespect of Islam, spreading false news, mocking religious constants, and assaulting family principles and values in Egyptian society. It is noted that Rania Youssef had accused journalist Nizar Al-Faris of distorting the facts after he aired their television interview, where Rania made several statements that subjected her to severe backlash on social media.
