Syria announced today, Monday, the registration of the Russian "Sputnik V" vaccine and its use within its territory.
Russian media reported today that Syria announced the registration of the Russian vaccine and its approval in the country, according to a message from the Syrian embassy in Moscow. The statement mentioned that "the Syrian Arab Republic has completed all registration procedures for the Russian 'Sputnik V' vaccine against COVID-19 and has allowed its use on its territory."
The "Sputnik V" vaccine was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health in August of last year and was developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. This vaccine was the first in the world to provide prevention against "COVID-19." It was created on a tested platform using human adenoviral vectors.
Additionally, Russia registered two other vaccines, the latest being the "KoviVac" vaccine last Saturday, and in October, the "Epivakkorona" vaccine was registered. The medical journal "Lancet" published the results of the first and second phases of human trials for this vaccine on September 5, which helped in gaining a better understanding of it. The results published in the medical journal indicated that the Russian "Sputnik V" vaccine for "COVID-19" stimulated an antibody response in all participants of the early phase trials.
