Egypt and Saudi Arabia: The Strongest Arab Armies

The annual military strength ranking of countries worldwide for 2021 noted the names of countries with the strongest military in the region.

The "Global Fire Power" website announced that Turkey possesses the strongest army in the region, followed by Egypt in second place, with Iran in third. The site added that Saudi Arabia ranks fourth in military strength in the Middle East, followed by Israel in fifth, the UAE in sixth, Iraq in seventh, Syria in eighth, and Kuwait in ninth place. The tenth rank for military strength went to Oman, followed by Jordan in eleventh place, then Yemen, Qatar, Bahrain, and Lebanon at the bottom of the list.

Saudi Arabia topped the list for members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, with the UAE in second place, Kuwait third, Oman fourth, then Qatar and Bahrain. Notably, last year Egypt also ranked first among Arab armies, as the Egyptian army is considered the strongest in the region according to the same ranking, followed by Saudi Arabia in second place and Algeria in third, then the UAE, and Syria in fifth place. Iraq holds the sixth position, followed by Morocco, then Sudan, Jordan, Yemen in tenth place, while the weakest Arab army is that of Madagascar.

"Global Fire Power" issues its rankings based on potential military capabilities, using over 50 individual factors to determine the strength indices of a specific country's military. Among these factors are military and financial strength, logistical capability, and geography of 138 countries. It is worth noting that the global site has a unique formula that allows it to compare the armies of smaller and more technologically advanced countries with those of larger and less developed nations.
