The army resumed the process of distributing compensation to citizens affected by the Beirut Port explosion for the second consecutive day, distributing an amount of 6,445,100,000 Lebanese pounds.
The National News Agency reported, citing a statement from the Army Command’s Guidance Directorate, that on February 17, 2021, the concerned army units resumed the distribution process for affected citizens, and a total of 6,445,100,000 Lebanese pounds was distributed. The statement indicated that the number of housing units that benefited from these compensations, classified as medium and below medium, reached 687 units in the regions of Karantina, Mar Mikhael, Gemmayzeh, Corniche al-Nahr, Jaitawi, Sassine, Medawar, Ramlet el-Baida, Rmeil, Rizk, Adliyeh, Tabaris, Bourj Hammoud, the waterfront of the Dora coast, and the Ain al-Mreisseh area.
The statement further noted that the distribution of aid would continue tomorrow in the aforementioned areas, except for the Ain al-Mreisseh area. On February 16, 2021, the Lebanese army had already resumed the compensation distribution process for citizens affected by the Beirut Port explosion, distributing an amount of 4 billion and 33 million and 100 thousand Lebanese pounds. The statement clarified that the number of housing units benefiting from these compensations, classified as medium and below medium, reached 622 units in the areas of Karantina, Mar Mikhael, Gemmayzeh, Corniche al-Nahr, Jaitawi, Sassine, Medawar, Ramlet el-Baida, Rmeil, Rizk, Adliyeh, Tabaris, Bourj Hammoud, and the waterfront of the Dora coast. Additionally, it was mentioned that the distribution of aid would continue the following day in the mentioned regions, including the Ain al-Mreisseh area.
