The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced in the early hours of Sunday the interception of three ballistic missiles launched by Houthi militias towards the Kingdom, confirming that two children were injured and 14 homes were damaged as a result of the interception of the ballistic missiles and Houthi drones.
The official spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles and three explosive-laden drones launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia towards the Eastern Region, Jazan, and Najran.
He explained that "the Saudi defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia from Sana'a using civilian objects towards the Eastern Region of the Kingdom" on Saturday evening. He added that the interception caused debris to scatter over the Al-Dammam neighborhood, resulting in injuries to a Saudi boy and girl as well as light damage to 14 residential homes.
Al-Maliki pointed out that "this barbaric and irresponsible behavior by the militia in attempting to target civilians and civilian objects contradicts heavenly values and humanitarian principles," noting that it "reflects the reality of military operations on the ground and the deterioration of the militia's situation on the fronts, along with the loss of key field leaders."
He indicated that the Saudi Ministry of Defense will take necessary and deterrent measures to protect its territories and resources and to stop such hostile and cross-border attacks to protect civilians and civilian objects in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
In a related context, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, condemned the ballistic attack towards the Eastern Region in a statement, expressing his strong denunciation.
He also condemned the continued escalation by the Houthi militia in targeting civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom with explosive-drones, commending the capabilities and efficiency of Saudi air defenses, which managed to intercept and destroy three explosive-laden drones before they reached their targets.
Al-Othaimeen affirmed the support and endorsement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its territory, security, and stability. He stressed that the organization condemns the terrorist practices committed by the Houthi militia and those who support it with funding and weapons, considering such actions to be "war crimes."
