Different regions in Saudi Arabia are experiencing thunderous rains and hail showers, while citizens are questioning the unprecedented rains occurring at this time of summer, particularly in the Riyadh area. Ayman bin Salam, the CEO of the National Center for Meteorology, described the rains in the southern Riyadh region, extending to Wadi al-Dawasir and Sharurah, as "remarkable and unprecedented."
Hussein Al-Qahtani, spokesperson for the center, stated in an interview with the official Saudi news channel, Al-Ikhbariya, that the center is conducting a study to understand the climatic reasons behind this phenomenon. Al-Qahtani mentioned, "The world is experiencing different and severe weather phenomena that we observe significantly in some countries," referring to the recent floods in Germany and China. He explained that Saudi Arabia is currently witnessing unusual weather phenomena at this time of year. He added, "What has happened in the southern region of Riyadh extending to Najran and Sharurah is notable and requires clear study; however, it falls under the climate changes experienced worldwide."
