The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) released the results of its annual evaluations of goalkeepers to create a list of the top 50 goalkeepers, featuring those who were among the best 20 in different years.
Veteran Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon topped the list as the best goalkeeper of the last 30 years (from 1987 to 2020). The Italian giant, now 43 years old and still playing with Juventus, scored 357 points. The top three positions also included retired goalkeepers, with former Real Madrid and Spain national team goalkeeper Iker Casillas in second place (260 points) and Czech goalkeeper Petr Čech (218 points), who previously played for Chelsea and Arsenal.
The IFFHS list also included two Russian goalkeepers, with former Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Rinat Dasayev in 37th place (57 points) and CSKA's Igor Akinfeev, aged 34, in 47th place (47 points).

8. José Luis Chilavert (Paraguay) - 146 points
9. Walter Zenga (Italy) - 132 points
10. Andoni Zubizarreta (Spain) - 132 points
