Justice Minister Adel Nassar emphasized during his visit to students at the Lebanese University's judicial institute entrance exams, marking their return after an eight-year hiatus, that these exams are crucial for rejuvenating and activating the judiciary. Nassar highlighted that the tests are being conducted with complete calmness, sobriety, and seriousness. He noted that the institute's building is currently under renovation to welcome students, and the programs have been updated in collaboration with the French Judicial Institute. Faculty members have also undergone training in France to ensure all necessary conditions are met for accommodating students and advancing the curriculum.
Nassar expressed gratitude to the President and members of the Higher Judicial Council and the examination committee for overseeing the exams. He stressed the importance of continuing judicial advancements, including progressing investigations into the port explosion to a significant stage, enhancing the judiciary's productivity, and preparing laws related to judicial independence which will later be submitted to Parliament. He declared, "The justice sector is now on the right track."
Responding to questions, Nassar stated, "Around 1200 students are participating in the exams, with 45 judges needed, and the success criterion is based on competency and knowledge."
Regarding the investigation of the port explosion, he confirmed that the judicial investigator has completed the file and forwarded it to the public prosecution, with the aim of concluding it by October.
