Sources from the nursing team at the private hospital where actress Dala Abdulaziz was being treated revealed that her last words were calling for her late husband Samir Ghanem, emphasizing that she repeatedly said "Samir... Samir" before losing consciousness. Other medical sources from within the hospital stated that Dala Abdulaziz passed away without knowing about her husband Samir Ghanem's death, due to her poor health in the final hours, which began with loss of consciousness resulting from kidney failure followed by the cessation of some other bodily functions leading to cardiac arrest.
The sources, according to Al-Watan newspaper, confirmed that doctors attempted to put her on a ventilator, but time did not allow them due to her deteriorating condition in the recent period caused by severe fibrosis in her lungs after contracting COVID-19 in late April. She was transferred to a private hospital for treatment before being moved to another hospital a few days ago.
They added that her condition worsened in the final hours, starting with kidney failure followed by the failure of some body systems, then cardiac arrest, noting that doctors tried to put her on a ventilator during the last hours but to no avail.
Sources from the hospital where Dala Abdulaziz was treated revealed details about the last hours of her life, stating that her condition severely deteriorated in the last days, leading to complete loss of consciousness at times and that she was unable to remove the oxygen mask from her face. The sources stated in statements to Al-Watan that Dala Abdulaziz, aged 61, suffered from severe lung fibrosis due to her COVID-19 infection, which impaired her ability to breathe normally. They noted that her mental state significantly worsened during the recent period due to her prolonged stay in the hospital and reliance on ventilatory support devices, to the point that at times she refused to take medication.
Dala Abdulaziz contracted COVID-19 in late April and was transferred to a hospital in New Cairo, while her late husband, actor Samir Ghanem, was transferred to another hospital in Mohandessin before passing away due to complications from black fungus.
