The following statement was issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division: As part of the efforts by the Central Drug Enforcement Office within the Judicial Police to combat drug trafficking operations, information was received regarding an attempt to smuggle a quantity of drugs hidden in a professional and camouflaged manner inside a wooden model of the Baalbek structures, destined for a European country.
On May 17, 2022, following comprehensive investigations and inquiries, the personnel of this office identified the location of the parcel at a postal company, where it was seized. Upon inspection, 12.8 kg of cannabis was found inside. On the same date, as a result of vigilant monitoring, a patrol from the Central Drug Enforcement Office detained the sender of the parcel along with a partner in the smuggling operation in the Batroun area.

- A. Sh. (born in 1981, Lebanese)
- D. T. (born in 1987, Lebanese)
They were found in possession of 250 grams of cocaine hidden inside a wooden piece shaped like the Cedar of Lebanon, which they were preparing to smuggle outside Lebanese territory. An investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
