Beautiful Bkerke: The Shield Against Occupation

The resigned MP Nadim Gemayel considered Bkerke as the shield and stronghold against all forms and colors of occupation, asserting that its primary and sole project is Lebanon.

The National News Agency reported earlier on a tweet by resigned MP Nadim Gemayel, where he stated: "Bkerke does not joke and does not deviate from its first and last project... Lebanon. From John Maron, through Patriarch Sfeir, to our patriarch Rai, it remains the shield and stronghold against all forms and colors of occupation. Anyone who betrays Bkerke must have a project for Lebanon other than terrorism and destruction." Gemayel accompanied his tweet with the hashtag: #With_Bkerke and our patriarch today and tomorrow.

A delegation from the "Neutral Lebanon Meeting" visited the patriarchal edifice in Bkerke and met with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai to discuss his call for neutrality and an international conference, what the meeting can offer in this regard, and announced solidarity with "the patriarch in his endeavor, and readiness to provide assistance in the files that the patriarchate is preparing to find the best solution for the Lebanese crisis."

For his part, the Maronite patriarch explained his positions regarding neutrality and the international conference, emphasizing that all local solutions and efforts have been exhausted without yielding the desired results. Patriarch Rai noted that the Lebanese crisis has reached a level of complexity where the involved parties are now unprepared to come together and dialogue to devise solutions. He pointed out that it is necessary to turn to the international community, which is legitimate since Lebanon is a founding member of the United Nations. He questioned, "If our country is meant to play the role of a meeting point for civilizations and dialogue, how can it do so if it is not neutral but biased towards one team against another?"
