Oumima Nelson is in prison for murdering her husband, having stabbed him with scissors, which led to his death. Oumima attempted to dispose of her husband's remains by cooking part of them with turkey and serving it to guests at a party in her home; however, she failed and was arrested.
Born in Egypt in 1968, Oumima decided to migrate to the United States, initially working as a nanny before becoming a fashion model in California, according to Al-Akhbar. Oumima was known for her affinity for seducing older men to rob them of their money before leaving them. In 1991, she met a man named Bill Nelson, who was 56 years old. Oumima fell deeply in love with him, and they married just one month after meeting.
Bill was a pilot but stopped working due to drug addiction, ultimately serving four years in prison. Their romance was short-lived, as Bill's aggressive side soon emerged; he physically and sexually abused Oumima. On Thanksgiving Day in 1991, Oumima reported during investigations that Bill had sexually assaulted her in their apartment in Costa Mesa and attempted to strangle her. Oumima stated that she lost her composure and threw a lamp at him, and upon finding scissors, she inflicted a fatal stab wound that led to his immediate death.
Not only did Oumima kill her husband, but she also dismembered his body, cooking his head and hands and mixing them with turkey meat to serve to guests. However, the murderous wife could not dispose of the remaining parts of Bill's body, so she collected them in a garbage bag and went to a friend, offering her $75,000 to help get rid of the rest of the remains. The friend refused and immediately reported her to the police.
The police arrested Oumima and detained her, recovering the bags containing the dismembered body parts. However, the police could not identify Bill or the cause of death due to the state of the body. At the same time, Bill's employer reported his absence from work. The police immediately searched Oumima's apartment, where they found many garbage bags containing further body parts of Bill.
In 1992, Oumima's trial commenced, and her attorney attempted to convince the court that the killing was an act of self-defense, but this defense was unsuccessful, and Oumima was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Oumima confessed to a psychiatrist that she ate her husband's ribs, but denied this in court. During her imprisonment, Oumima submitted two requests for release: one in 2006 and another in 2011, both of which were denied. Currently, Oumima is married to a seventy-year-old man and remains in prison, expected to apply for release again in 2026.
