Lebanese artist Ragheb Alama posted a video on his social media accounts, where he addressed the Lebanese people from inside a luxurious car while in Dubai.
Alama's appearance in this manner seemingly angered director Nasser Faqih, who sarcastically commented on the video: "Great, Abu Khaled... even with your Bentley, the sadness in your eyes and heart for your beloved people is clear." Faqih's comment provoked Lebanese artist Bassem Mughnieh, who responded, "Nasser, what do you want with Ragheb Alama? Every time you see a successful Lebanese artist, you attack them. Does this mean he should buy an old car and take a picture in it to send a message to his people? This is his life, and you know he is one of the artists who raised Lebanon's name in the world."
In turn, director Nasser Faqih replied to Mughnieh's comment, saying, "Bassem, I know you’re smarter than this... I’m the one who takes pride in the success of our country's youth and artists; I am criticizing superficiality, not success, my dear. Imagine yourself sitting in an upscale restaurant at a table with food worth thousands of dollars and talking about the loaf of bread that citizens are deprived of... would you do that? I don’t think so, and if you did, I would criticize you."
On another note, Lebanese artist Ragheb Alama revealed his complete readiness to take the experimental COVID-19 vaccine after he had previously questioned its effectiveness in an interview, without providing details on why he changed his mind.
