Ned Price: SDF Will Remain a Strong Partner for the United States

U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price stated today that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will continue to be a strong partner for the United States.

In special remarks to the Rudaw network, Price emphasized that the SDF alone will not be able to protect the tens of thousands of ISIS prisoners and their families still under their control, noting that Washington supports the fight against corruption and reform attempts in Iraq. He added that the Syrian Democratic Forces had a significant role in the fight against terrorism, and they will remain strong partners.

Price revealed the new U.S. administration's stance on the situation in northeastern Syria, arguing that the SDF will not be able to continue combating terrorism alone. He stated that "the U.S. cooperates closely with its partners like the SDF and humanitarian organizations, and the civil society teams in northern and eastern Syria."

In a related context, the Syrian news agency SANA reported that the Hasakah province witnessed protests by dozens of Kurdish students in front of an SDF headquarters loyal to the U.S. army in the city of Derbāsiyah. They protested against the arrest of teachers who are teaching them the Syrian Ministry of Education's curricula. Sources indicated that the demonstrators gathered in front of the so-called "Asayish Derbāsiyah" headquarters, demanding the immediate release of a group of their teachers who were arrested by SDF elements from their homes.

It is worth noting that the SDF continues, for the fifteenth consecutive day, to impose a siege on the center of Hasakah and prevents the entry of vehicles, transportation means, food, and water tankers, along with other basic necessities for the residents.
