The Departure Crisis: Why Is Everyone Refusing to Sign Ronaldo?

All attempts by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Manchester United for a new team during the current summer transfer window have thus far failed. Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea have all rejected signing Ronaldo despite their need for a player with the attributes and qualities of the Portuguese star. Paris Saint-Germain currently lacks a pure "goal-scoring" striker, even though they have a prominent forward in Kylian Mbappé, who prefers to play on the wings to utilize his speed. Bayern Munich faces a significant dilemma in finding a replacement for their Polish striker Robert Lewandowski if he departs this summer, particularly to Barcelona. Meanwhile, Chelsea needs to bolster its attacking options after the departure of their Belgian top scorer Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan on loan.

However, all these clubs refuse to acquire Ronaldo for three reasons: his age, his salary, and his "selfish" personality. Bayern has rejected signing the 37-year-old Ronaldo because making such a deal would violate the club's policy of signing players younger than 30. Bayern Munich's CEO, Oliver Kahn, affirmed this stance, stating: "I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest players in the world, but unfortunately, we are not interested in signing him as he does not fit our philosophy."

The French newspaper "Le Parisien" claimed that Paris Saint-Germain also turned down Ronaldo's addition because "there is currently no place for the Portuguese star on the Parisian team's roster." This response seems logical: "There’s no place for Ronaldo in Paris," which is filled with stars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Neymar, whose salaries weigh heavily on the club. Signing Ronaldo, who would demand an annual salary of at least 30 million euros, would be a significant risk for the Parisian team, which recorded a deficit of 224.28 million euros last season.

Chelsea's coach Thomas Tuchel was decisive in excluding Ronaldo from his plans during the current summer transfer window due to the Portuguese's "selfish" personality; the German manager is not looking for a player who overshadows the team's overall players. The only offer Ronaldo has received this summer came from a Saudi club, but the Portuguese star rejected it in favor of continuing to compete at the highest levels of football despite his advancing age.
