Indian actress Kareena Kapoor was admitted to a hospital in the capital, New Delhi, on Saturday, February 20, to give birth to her second child with her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, as reported by the Times of India.
Kareena received congratulations from her fans on social media, and no further news regarding the actress or her newborn was mentioned, nor was the baby's name disclosed. Kareena, 40 years old, and her husband Saif Ali Khan, 50, revealed in August that Kareena was expecting their second child.
The star's followers were shocked by her latest appearance in a photo with her husband Saif Ali Khan and their only son last month, as her features changed due to pregnancy; she gained weight and appeared tired with visible signs of exhaustion. Comments flooded in on the photo, with some admiring the beauty of her son, while others expressed shock at her appearance, considering her one of the actresses brave enough to show up after a change in looks, especially since she possesses elements of beauty.
Kareena had faced widespread criticism because of press statements about pregnancy, which were misunderstood. In an interview with BBC Asia host Harn Rashid, Kareena stated, “Many people told me they have not seen other Indian actresses during their pregnancies, like Kareena Kapoor Khan is present.” She continued, “Many people said to me, ‘We have never seen an Indian actress pregnant’ because whenever any actress is pregnant, they try to hide, and we never see them. They either go to London or America or they never leave their homes because they cannot bear to be seen overweight or with swollen hands and faces.”
Notably, Kareena filmed scenes for a new movie with actor Aamir Khan during the later stages of her pregnancy.
