Dubai Police Rescues Floating Restaurant from Sinking

The marine rescue patrols at the Ports Police Station of Dubai Police, in collaboration with the Marine Fire Department of the General Directorate of Civil Defense and Dubai Municipality, successfully kept a "floating restaurant" from sinking in Dubai Creek after receiving a request for assistance from the boat's owner. Colonel Dr. Hassan Suhail Al-Suwaidi, Director of the Ports Police Station, stated that Dubai Police received a distress call from the boat owner just before it sank, prompting immediate coordination with strategic partners at the General Directorate of Civil Defense and the municipality to provide full support to the owner and prevent the sinking by forming a joint task force.

Al-Suwaidi urged boat owners to ensure the safety of their vessels by regularly checking various electronic devices and equipment on board, as well as assessing the overall structural integrity and safety of their boats. He also advised against leaving ships or boats unattended, which could lead to damage, sinking, or detracting from the overall appearance.

Regarding the details of the rescue operation, Lieutenant Ali Abdullah Al-Qusibi Al-Naqbi, Head of the Marine Rescue Section, explained that two rescue boats with full equipment were dispatched to the location where the boat was docked in Dubai Creek. Divers then descended beneath the vessel to secure the rigging needed for the salvage operation and connect it to the crane while ensuring the boat's balance to prevent it from tipping over. Civil Defense teams worked to pump out the water that had entered the boat to reduce its weight and make lifting it easier. He noted that the joint efforts between Dubai Police, Civil Defense, and the municipality contributed to the swift flotation and lifting of the vessel to the dock, preventing its sinking in record time, thanks to their expertise and cooperation. He expressed gratitude to all the teams that contributed to the successful flotation operation and to Al-Mubarak Marine Company for their logistical support.
