The veteran Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, playing for Juventus, is facing the risk of suspension for uttering what is considered one of the worst types of insults in Italy during a match against Parma, according to the Italian newspaper "Football Italia."
The report states that cameras captured Buffon shouting instructions to his teammate Manolo Portanova in the 80th minute of the match, which took place on December 19, during the 13th round of Serie A, and ended with Juventus winning 4-0.
"Football Italia" added that Buffon used a phrase that disrespected "the divine" while directing his teammate, leading to his referral to the disciplinary committee. If the incident is confirmed, Buffon is likely to receive a one-match suspension. It is noteworthy that such phrases have been increasingly common in matches played behind closed doors, where they can be easily picked up by microphones near the pitch.
