Joyce on Its Way to Lebanon

The Meteorological Department in the Civil Aviation Administration predicts that tomorrow will be generally cloudy with a significant and rapid drop in temperatures starting from the afternoon. Winds will intensify, reaching nearly 70 km/h, which will raise sea levels, and rain will fall heavily at night, accompanied by thunderstorms. Flash floods are likely, especially in northern and inland areas, and there is a warning of soil erosion. Hail may also fall, and snow will occur at elevations of 1200 meters and below in northern and inland areas, with a potential for dust in the atmosphere due to the deepening cold front from northern Libya and Egypt.

The announcement stated the following:

- General Situation: Stable weather will prevail over the eastern Mediterranean basin until tomorrow morning, Tuesday, when Lebanon will gradually be affected by the cold low-pressure system Joyce, which will turn into a storm on Wednesday. It will bring heavy rain and snow to the mid and lower elevations below 600 meters in the northern part of the country. The effects of Joyce will continue until the end of the week, leaving behind frost waves starting Thursday morning.

- Expected Weather in Lebanon:

- **Monday**: Partly to mostly cloudy with medium and high clouds, with no significant change in temperatures in coastal areas and a decrease in mountain and inland regions, with fog formation in the highlands and light rain in northern areas.

- **Tuesday**: Generally cloudy with a noticeable and rapid drop in temperatures starting in the afternoon, with winds intensifying to nearly 70 km/h. Sea levels will rise, and rain will fall heavily at night, accompanied by thunderstorms. Flash floods are likely, especially in northern and inland areas, with warnings of soil erosion. Hail may fall, along with snow at elevations of 1200 meters and below in northern and inland areas, with a potential for dust in the atmosphere due to the deepening cold front from northern Libya and Egypt.

- **Wednesday**: Generally cloudy with an additional and noticeable drop in temperatures, particularly in mountainous and inland areas, with strong winds approaching 85 km/h, raising sea levels. Rain will fall heavily at times, accompanied by thunderstorms. Hail and snow will fall at elevations of 1000 meters, and the snow level in northern and inland areas may reach 700 meters.

- **Thursday**: Partly to mostly cloudy with an additional drop in temperatures and rain in the morning that may intensify at times, accompanied by thunderstorms. Snow will fall at elevations of 900 meters, and the level will drop in northern and inland areas to around 600 meters in the morning. Rain will gradually subside starting in the afternoon, followed by frost waves due to cold air masses and the formation of ice on mountain roads, with warnings about slips on those roads.

- Temperatures on the coast will range from 13 to 21 degrees, over the mountains from 4 to 15 degrees, and in the inland areas from 4 to 15 degrees.
