Adele Imam's Son Announces the Premiere of His Father's Play

Director Rami Imam, son of Egyptian actor Adel Imam, spoke about the hardest night his father experienced, during which he cried deeply while the play "Bodyguard" was being shown, after its broadcast was delayed on television for many years.

Rami Imam announced that the play will be released on the Shahid platform for the first time, ten years after its theatrical run ended. He revealed that his father expressed great happiness when he learned that the play would finally be aired on the platform. Rami, the director of "Bodyguard," shared during the "Trending MBC" program aired on MBC 4 that the toughest night for the cast, including Adel Imam, was the night actor Mustafa Metwally, the brother-in-law of Adel Imam who also performed in the play, passed away.

He commented, "Mustafa Metwally's death occurred in 2000, a year after the play started, and it was tough for all of us, especially for my father." Rami continued that Adel Imam insisted the cast go on with the performance that night because the audience had purchased tickets in advance. He said, "Adel Imam said that the theater is only impeded by the grave, but what sin did the audience commit who booked tickets and waited to see the performance to be deprived of it that night?"

He added, "As soon as the performance ended and the curtain fell, the team collapsed, and I saw Mr. Adel crying profusely; I had never seen him cry like that before."

The General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia announced that for the first time, the play "Bodyguard" will be shown on February 26 on the Shahid platform, supported by the entertainment authority. Director Rami Imam revealed that the play's duration was about two hours, but due to his father's frequent improvisation, it extended to about four and a half hours.

It is worth noting that the play, written by Youssef Megahed and directed by Rami Imam, featured alongside Adel Imam stars like the late Azza Abou Ouf, Saeed Abdel Ghani, and Raghda. It first premiered on stage in 1999 and achieved significant success, running for 11 years, with its launch on February 26 of this month on the Shahid platform.
