President Michel Suleiman received the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, and discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.
According to the National News Agency, President Suleiman expressed his hope that Russia would "play a role in assisting Lebanon by providing vaccines and medical supplies to reduce the increasing human losses daily," highlighting "the Russian role in supporting the principle of 'neutralizing Lebanon from the conflicts of axes.'" Suleiman emphasized that "the vacuum in power is one of the most significant reasons, along with poor political management and reliance on short-sighted 'corona' policies, which have led the Lebanese people, and particularly the people of Tripoli, to this level of poverty, need, and loss of hope, facilitating the work of the fifth column that wreaked havoc and corruption in an attempt to turn back the clock and portray the capital of 'knowledge and scholars' inaccurately."
President Suleiman stated, "Tripoli is bigger than to be exploited for cheap purposes and political calculations," calling on the security agencies to "control the security situation, which has deteriorated due to the absence of an executive authority able to bear its responsibilities."
Suleiman renewed his call to "form a government as soon as possible and to learn from the seriousness of what happened in Tripoli yesterday, before this situation spreads to other regions due to the worsening conditions resulting from poor political management," warning "of the danger of failing to identify the perpetrator and not holding accountable the destructive hands that exploited the people's pain and set fire to the Tripoli Serail."
