Presidential File: No News

In the presidential line, there is no significant news. The names being proposed are the same, and the orientations of the parliamentary blocs have not yet become clear. However, some change-oriented, independent, and opposition lawmakers continue their efforts through meetings to unify their ranks and agree on nominating or supporting a candidate for the presidency. Yet, the odds of success are equal to the odds of failure, as divisions still plague these lawmakers.

In this context, member of the Development and Liberation bloc, MP Ayoub Hamayed, pointed out that "the bloc has not yet discussed the presidential election file, and it may be a bit early to do so, knowing that the selection of presidents in Lebanon is not solely dependent on internal will; rather, this will intersects with regional atmospheres, which have their effect."

Hamayed noted in an interview with the electronic newspaper "Al-Anbaa" that "the Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, decides when to hold the first election session based on the prevailing conditions and the interactions among parliamentary blocs and new lawmakers, knowing that he did not delay in the previous elections, and he has two months constitutionally to hold this session."

Hamayed believes that "there are no final options for any parliamentary bloc or team, and there are no confirmed characters, as the parliamentary elections did not produce a majority capable of independently electing a president. Therefore, rapprochement between political forces is necessary."
