Postponement of the Trial of the Wife and Her Lover: What They Did is Horrific

The Zagazig Criminal Court has decided to postpone the ruling against a woman and her lover, accused of murdering the husband of the first defendant, to a session on February 2nd. The accused lured her husband to a neighboring house under the pretext of excavating for antiquities and killed him with the help of her lover by drowning him in a water barrel where the husband was training for diving operations to extract antiquities in Sharkia. The decision was issued by Judge Sami Ghoneim and included judges Walid El-Mahdy, Amir Zaki, and Mohamed Sirag El-Din.

The events date back to case number 7854 of the San al-Hagar Criminal Court, registered as number 141 for the year 2020 in North Zagazig, where the Director of Security in Sharkia received a report from the Faqous police station about the arrest of Mahmoud Y. A. E., 37 years old, residing in Faqous, and Samar S. H. A., 27 years old, a housewife residing in Al-Namroot in Faqous, accused of killing the victim "Misbah A. E. M," the husband of the first accused, with prior intent. They agreed to lure him, and the lover killed him by drowning him in a water barrel.

Investigations revealed an illicit relationship between the accused while the second was the wife of the victim. She conspired to kill him by having the lover lure him to his house and preparing a barrel filled with water, convincing him of the need to practice diving in it to prepare for excavations. The victim submerged his head to the bottom of the barrel, at which point the first accused held his legs to prevent him from escaping, intending to kill him until he drowned.

The accused were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution, where the wife confessed to her crime and to her lover's assistance in order to dispose of her husband. The prosecution decided to refer them to the Criminal Court, which has now postponed the trial until February 2nd.
