Naji Al-Ussta Underestimated Coronavirus and Ended Up in the Hospital

Lebanese artist Naji Al-Ussta stated that at first, he underestimated the Coronavirus, believing that due to his young age, the virus would have little effect on him. However, what he did not expect happened; the virus affected him severely, requiring hospitalization. He mentioned that he is still suffering from lung inflammation.

In his recent appearance on the show "A Ghayr Kawkab" with journalist Pierre Rabbat, Al-Ussta noted that if it weren't for some acquaintances, he would not have been able to secure a place in the hospital. He commented, "I cannot deny that I was afraid my time would come, and oxygen is a blessing we do not appreciate." He also stated that he faced significant backlash and insults after the news of his COVID-19 infection broke, primarily because he performed at a New Year's Eve event, though he had expressed regret about it; however, it wasn't his responsibility as he was performing his job permitted by the government.

Al-Ussta revealed that he had visited a psychiatrist in the past and had been taking sleeping medications for ten years but managed to quit after contracting the virus. He admitted to a bad habit of "pulling his hand hair" when feeling anxious.

He mentioned the possibility of leaving the country if a suitable opportunity arises, given the current circumstances in Lebanon. Al-Ussta expressed regret for not allowing his wife to travel to America to give birth and secure an American passport for their son. He added that he hopes to have a daughter whom he would name "Diana" after his wife.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Ussta commented that artist Nassif Zeitoun is ahead of his generation, stating, "He deserves success; he has all the qualities, including voice, charisma, presence, and business acumen." He also noted that artist Elissa's stardom allows her to engage in politics or other topics, indicating that her fame extends beyond Lebanon.
